'Macchu Picchu, Peru', 2009.
A few pictures today to help illustrate the process I go through with each piece. At the top are the sketches done on site, below that are secondary sketches (though this is the first time I've done it on the board) to work out how to make it into a painting, and then the actual piece itself.
I am not very happy with this piece but will do another version of it when I finish the South American series. In the past I have done up to four or five versions of a piece, trying to get it right!

'Bartolome, Galapagos Islands', 2009.
Just finished this piece. The picture is dark and doesn't do the colour justice but the orangey-brown and the deep blues especially, are much richer in the flesh. This is the much photographed view of Bartolome and illustrates how wierd a place is to have beautiful golden beaches next to lava fields.

'Rio, Brazil', 2008
I had a tour guide for the day and was very keen to get the statue of Cristo Redentor in the foreground of this piece but, at the point where it was best to get that view, it was very foggy and so I had to settle for this. This is the first of the original ten South America pieces I had planned. I have only finished two to date but there are school holidays coming up. This photo is a little washed out but you get the idea.
